P.A.R.T.Y. is a nationally recognized injury prevention program that has been running in Wood Buffalo for over 10 years, presented to all local grade 9 students. The program focuses on injury prevention, safe choices, and safe driving. The goal is to provide young people with hands on, interactive experiences about trauma (injury) so they will recognize potential injury-risk situations, make prevention-oriented choices, and adopt behaviors that minimize unnecessary risk. This is important because injury is the #1 cause of death of teenagers in Canada.
Volunteers will be needed to run certain stations that take place in the afternoon after the mock collision and relevant presentations in the morning. There are 7 volunteer spots each day for the following stations.
-Distract-a-match
-Impaired goggles/sobriety test station with RCMP
-Concussion station
-Floaters/helpers for breaks, any fill ins needed.
Other organizations with stations and presentations will be run at the same time by their staff.
Full descriptions of stations, full schedule, and assigned positions will be emailed out closer to the event.
Any questions or concerns can be emailed to Mikayla Bennett, the Community Engagement Coordinator, at community@scwb.ca
