The Community/Classroom Leader will help teacher's and administration reinforce the WITS programs in schools by:
- Creating a school and community wide common language to open conversations about peer conflict.
- Talking proactively about “Using your WITS” to solve peer conflicts and increase social responsibility and to
They will do this through activities such as:
- Monthly, leaders and teachers, should select one book from the WITS booklist and use the lesson plans to create classroom conversations about using WITS messages.
- Community leaders revisit classrooms using the WITS Programs two times per semester to ask children about their successes in using their WITS and to deliver take home gifts (pencils, rulers, etc.) and WITS recognition stickers.
There is room for collaboration and creativity to offer alternative forms of reinforcement through games, sharing stories, classroom presentations and anything else!
The program is to be delivered during school hours, but will be flexible based on the leaders' schedule and availability.
Police Record Checks/Vulnerable sector checks will be required, but are free of charge to those willing to volunteer their time to help administer this much needed program.
