Who We Are

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo, we believe in the power of mentorship to change lives. As a non-profit organization, our mission is to create life-changing relationships that unlock the full potential of young people in our community. We provide personalized mentoring through One-on-One matches and group programs, connecting youth with positive role models who inspire, guide, and empower them.

Mentorship has a profound impact on a young person’s emotional, social, and physical well-being. When our youth thrive, the entire community benefits. As the demand for mentorship continues to grow, we are dedicated to expanding our programs to support the many children and youth who are waiting for a mentor. As a registered charity and proud member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and Big Brothers Big Sisters International, we are committed to leading the way in the mentorship movement across Canada.

What We Do

Since 1979, we’ve been a vital part of the Wood Buffalo region, serving Fort McMurray, Fort Chipewyan, Anzac, Conklin, and Janvier. We started by matching Big Sisters with Little Sisters, but as our community grew, so did our programs. Today, we offer a variety of free mentorship programs, including Community-Based One-on-One Mentoring (Bigs/Littles), Corporate Mentoring, Couple Matches, Full Circle Mentoring, Teen Wellness, Ignite!, Game On!, Go Girls!, and Crafty Kids.
