Who We Are

We are a grassroots, Indigenous-women led non-profit committed to culturally safe reproductive care for Indigenous families.

What We Do

Ihkapaskwa Collective is committed to reawakening the ancient wisdom of indigenous birth practices and ways of being. Our mission is to provide barrier-free access to perinatal healthcare, fostering culturally safe environments for indigenous families in rural communities. Through the support of dedicated Aunties, birth workers, and midwives, we aim to empower and guide families back to their ancestral traditions, ensuring a harmonious transition into parenthood.

Our objective is to establish a network of indigenous care providers who offer holistic, culturally grounded care. We will facilitate the revival of traditional practices by nurturing indigenous birthing experiences, empowering families to embrace their culture, and promoting healthy outcomes for Indigenous families and babies.

Our Aunties Within Reach program has recently won a Patient Experience Award from the Health Quality Council of Alberta
