Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind is seeking volunteers to assist with sport and recreational programming for individuals with a visual impairment in Fort McMurray.

ASRAB supports Albertans who are blind or visually impaired to live physically active lives and participate in competitive sport programs. We do this by:

  1. offering physical literacy and fundamental movement skills to children;

  2. providing sport programs (goalball - a Paralympic sport developed for persons

    with a vision impairment),

  3. offering a continuum of programs and services in a wide variety of recreational

    activities that supports participation and engagement of the blind and visually impaired in their local communities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Volunteers will assist program leads in recreational and sport programs for youth and adults with visual impairment.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Assist with introductory sport and movement classes for children with visual impairments.

  • Assist with recreational programming and introduction to Goalball for individuals with a visual impairment of all ages.

    OTHER DUTIES

  • Assist with setting up and taking down any necessarily equipment.

  • Attend ASRAB training to learn more about adapted physical activity.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An interest in volunteering with individuals with a visual impairment.

  • Hold a passion for physical activity that you would like to share.
