Art for Social Change is a program that uses conceptual art to provide powerful experiences that inspire people to take personal action to create positive change for those facing barriers due to lack of accessibility, inclusion, and other oppressive systems and structures.

This year, seven (7) multidisciplinary artists throughout Canada have been invited to create installations related to the theme of Accessibility. Their artworks will be displayed in a final exhibition at Keyano College, opening on December 3 (International Persons with Disabilities Day) and closing on December 10 (International Human Rights Day) and with personalized tours scheduled daily.

To create artworks that respond to the local experience, artists have been invited to partner with social profit organizations in the region that support people experiencing barriers to access, be it physical, mental, neurological, cultural, or otherwise. The goal of this partnership is not only to bring local context to the artwork, but also to show that support is available and that these organizations are on a journey to find solutions.

Volunteer: Senior Caregiver Ambassador

The Senior Caregiver Ambassador volunteer role is for someone who wants to help support unpaid family & friend caregivers in their community. While the program has a focus on reaching caregivers who are seniors, we want to make sure every caregiver in a community knows where to turn for support.

We typically recruit volunteers who are 55 or older for this role, but welcome applications from anyone 18+.

Here are some of the ways you can support caregivers as an Ambassador in Athabasca, AB:

- share our brochures with caregivers or at local medical clinics and community facilities (libraries, seniors' residences, rec centres, etc)
- help arrange presentations for local community groups
- let us know when senior-focused or wellness-focused events are happening in your community so that we can participate
- help at our information table at community events and conferences
- share your own caregiving story for use on our communications channels (newsletter, website, or social media)

Most of our current Ambassadors have experience as a caregiver to a family member or friend. We also appreciate applicants who have an educational or work background in healthcare or community care.

This role DOES NOT directly support a caregiver or care recipient in the home or otherwise. This role IS NOT for healthcare aide/nursing/clinical experience.

Time Required
The Senior Caregiver Ambassador role is flexible. You will choose your activities and time commitment. Some Ambassadors have an hour or two to give each month, and some Ambassadors have more. We welcome any and all participation!

Help Make Newcomer Voices Heard in Wood Buffalo! Are you passionate about supporting immigrants and newcomers in our region? The Wood Buffalo Local Immigration Partnership is looking for Survey Ambassadors to help promote the Newcomer Needs Assessment Survey, a community-wide effort to better understand the experiences, needs, and priorities of newcomers. Please dead the details below and use the link to apply. What Is a Survey Ambassador?Survey Ambassadors are volunteers who help spread the word about the survey from November 4- December 10th, and encourage participation. Ambassadors will: · Independently promote the survey in their own communities, especially among groups who are often left out of research. · Recruit participants and support individuals in completing the survey. · Share the survey online, in person, and at public spaces or events (e.g. ethnic stores, community gatherings, places of worship, community centers)

· Will be invited to sign up for specific outreach opportunities organized by the Promotion Team (e.g. pop-up tables, outreach at local businesses, community event). A schedule of these opportunities will be shared using a sign-up tool, and ambassadors can choose the shifts or tasks that work best for them.

Who Can Be an Ambassador? · We’re looking for friendly, outgoing individuals who: · Are connected to newcomer, immigrant, or underrepresented communities. · Are comfortable talking to others and encouraging participation. · Live, work, or study in Wood Buffalo. · Speak English (outreach can also be done in other languages). · Ideally are multilingual or culturally connected, especially in languages the survey will be translated into: French, Arabic, Tigrigna, Spanish, Dari, Somali, Ukrainian, Swahili, and Hindi. We especially hope to reach groups such as: Recent immigrants, Temporary residents or those with precarious immigration status, Racialized individuals, People living on low income or in precarious housing, Socially isolated individuals, LGBTQ+ individuals, Rural immigrants, International Students, Youth, Seniors, people with disabilities, and cultural or faith communities. Time Commitment & Support · Flexible and informal, estimated 1–3 hours/week. · Survey runs from November 4 to December 10, 2025 (may be extended slightly). · Ambassadors will attend a short onboarding session to receive training on the survey and outreach strategies, and have access to promotional material.Why Volunteer? · Help make sure newcomer voices are heard. · Build stronger community connections. · Be recognized in the final report and community presentations. · Support meaningful change in local services and programs.
