Volunteer: Warehouse Volunteer

Warehouse volunteers are essential to the day-to-day operations of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank. Every task completed helps keep our warehouse running efficiently so we can continue providing food and support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the Wood Buffalo region.

Volunteer duties may include stocking shelves, organizing the warehouse, portioning food, bagging fresh produce, working in the cooler or freezer, cleaning windows and floors, and assisting with other operational tasks that keep our facility safe, organized, and ready to serve our community. Some heavy lifting may be required.

You'll work alongside our dedicated staff, who will provide guidance and support throughout your shift. Questions and conversations are always welcome and encouraged! Come prepared to lend a hand, have fun, and learn more about the important work of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank and the impact your time makes in our community.

Description: School Breakfast Program Ride-Along volunteers support staff by assisting with weekly food pick-ups from Save-On-Foods and delivering breakfast items to schools across Fort McMurray. This role helps ensure students have reliable access to nutritious food to start their school day.

Schedule: Day: Every Monday

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Time Commitment: 3 hours weekly

Responsibilities:

Ride along with staff to pick up school breakfast orders from Save-On-Foods Assist with loading and unloading food items Help distribute breakfast supplies to multiple schools in Fort McMurray Ensure food is handled safely and respectfully Support staff throughout the delivery route

Requirements:

Ability to lift light to moderate weight items Comfortable riding in a vehicle for several hours Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions Interest in supporting child and youth food security
