Who We Are
Rock The Rails made its debut in 2019 at the Timberlea Skate Park. Despite it being a chilly late September day, the event attracted hundreds of spectators of all age groups plus 30+ competitors for BMX and Skateboarding. A limited attendance due to restrictions occurred downtown in 2020 but returned to Timberlea in 2021 & 2022 for its biggest years to date, incorporating a beer garden and extended hours for the first time. After a deadly 5th annual back in 2023, and a snowy, wet, but somehow awesome 6th year in 2024, we’re back to bring it in bigger and better again!
What We Do
Rock The Rails aims to empower youth who can sometimes "fall between the cracks". Action sports encourage physical activity, dedication, balance, pain tolerance and a sense of belonging for many youth and helps keep them off the streets.
Rock the Rails is a community not for profit event with proceeds donated to the Justin Slade Youth Foundation. We rely 100% on sponsors to cover the cost of insurance, prizes and entertainment fees. Rock The Rails believes in shopping local with security, food service, audio production and the majority of non-headline musical acts coming from the Fort McMurray region.
